Grabbed is a status effect applied when you are grabbed and held by a monster. If you are grabbed you can be bitten.

You have been grabbed by an attack. You are being held in place, and dodging and blocking are very difficult.

NPCs and monsters can be grabbed too.

Getting grabbed

  • Getting grabbed is a result of attack of a monster that has a grabbing ability (most zombies have them).
  • If you have been grabbed every other adjacent monster that has a grabbing ability also grabs you.
  • You can be grabbed by maximum of 8 monsters, but some monsters have improved grabbing ability, and their grab counts as multiple monsters grabbing you (this however will never be counted as more then 8).
  • You can dodge any attempt of grabbing.
  • Active Uncanny Dodge bionic provides superior dodging ability, preventing from being grabbed.
  • You utilize higher of your skills: strength or dexterity, to break from the grabbing attempt.
  • Some martial arts have techniques that allow breaking the grab during the attempt.

Being grabbed

  • If you are grabbed you can be bitten.
  • Your dodge is reduced when being grabbed. (divided by number of grabbing zombies + 1)
  • Your number of available blocks is reduced when grabbed. See martial arts for more info.
  • Other effects:
    • Maximum duration is 2 seconds, but it perpetually reapplies, until grab is broken or lifted.
    • Maximum intensity is 15. Intensity auto-adjusts itself according to the number of grabbing creatures.
    • You get speed -15, and additional -5 per each intensity level above first.
  • If you are riding an animal when grabbed you may be pulled down from your steed.
  • Being grabbed makes manipulating items harder.
  • Some monsters may grab and pull you from a distance, others can drag you away if they grab you.

Breaking from grab

  • You will try to break from grab every time you move away from monster grabbing you. If you fail you will not move.
  • If the last monster grabbing you dies, you are free from being grabbed.
  • You utilize higher of your skills: strength or dexterity, to break from the grab.
  • The more monsters grab you, the harder it is to break out of the grab. Remember that some monsters have advanced grabbing ability, and their grab counts as being grabbed by multiple monsters.
